How to choose the antique rug that is perfect for your room?

Once I read somewhere that antique rugs should be over 60 years of age. Quite old if you ask me, but having in mind the century developed hand woven technology used in production, I have no doubts that these antique Persian and Oriental rugs can successfully bare the signs of aging and time through the decades.

At first I decided to present you a few machine made rugs influenced by 17th century antique Persian area rug designs. But then I found it somehow wrong to present modern machine made rugs in this antique rugs section. So I chose these rugs from the Antique Persian Collection by Feizy Rugs. But first let me explain about the antique Oriental and Persian rugs:

Antique Persian and Oriental Rugs

Traditionally antique Oriental rugs are very durable and are the most expensive and longest to make, but that’s exactly what makes them even more appreciated for their beauty, style and elegance. Usually antique Oriental rugs are named after their place of origin. Most of the antique rugs I present you above originate from India.

Agra is a city in India that in the late 19th century has started producing antique Persian styled rugs from silk and wool. Antique Persian rugs manufactured in Agra are renowned for their beauty of color, elegance of drawing and fineness of hand knotting. The designs are famous for their floral tendrils, angular vines and stars.

The antique Persian rugs produced in Agra are probably the most sophisticated rugs providing softness, comfort and harmony to the atmosphere.

Just in short the Agra’s designs emphasized on elegance and simplicity surrounded by bold floral borders, combined with impressive variety of shades of colors the antique Persian rugs made in Agra turned out to be a unique master pieces.

Most of the antique rugs you see above are new production, not over 60 years of age, but yet they are manufactured in India, hand tufted with 100% wool, which is why they are a little more expensive (over $200). Well, there are a couple of rugs cheaper than $100, but they are either machine made or non-wool construction.

Antique Persia rugs collection by Feizy Rugs is truly inspired by the original antique Persian rugs, which after all are a branch of the antique Oriental rugs famous for their rich colors and beautiful patterns.
